President of the Concerned Bettors of Ghana (CBOG), Richard Agudah, has revealed that the group comprises more than two million members who actively participate in betting across the country.

According to Mr. Agudah, their records indicate this estimated figure includes both males and females.

“Based on our data, we have more than two million members. This is because many young people are involved in betting. In fact, we may even exceed that number as we have an online platform for monitoring members and also hold regular meetings,” he said on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Richard Agudah made this statement during an interview with Saddick Adams on the Angel Morning Show while commenting on the government’s decision to remove the 10% tax on betting wins, which was imposed by the previous administration.

This announcement was made on Monday, January 13, by finance-minister designate Ato Forson during his vetting at the Appointments Committee.

Reacting to the government’s decision, Mr. Agudah expressed his satisfaction, calling it a relief for bettors.

He emphasized that many engage in betting to supplement their financial needs because monthly salaries are often insufficient to cover basic expenses.

Mr. Agudah also addressed the perception that most bettors are unemployed and clarified that this is not entirely true, citing the Concerned Bettors of Ghana as an example, where their membership includes both employed and unemployed individuals.
