The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has underscored the nobility of the teaching profession in our society and its significance and impactful role.

According to the minister, teachers have become the backbone of societies making the teaching profession a more “noble profession” than other professions.

Madam Awatey said this when she delivered a keynote address at the matriculation ceremony of 450 new students at the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) College of Education in Koforidua for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The students, comprising 280 females and 170 males, will pursue a Bachelor in Basic Education. The occasion marked their official admission into the college.

Addressing the students, she emphasized the vital role of teachers in shaping society and encouraged them to uphold the values of dedication and professionalism.

“There is no noble profession than teaching, teachers are the backbone of our societies. So it is good to invest in knowledge but better to impact knowledge and that is why you should be proud of the career you have chosen.

This is the near beginning. The journey ahead calls for discipline, diligence, and dedication. You will encounter difficulties as your teachers have but with perseverance and faith, you will overcome them,” she stressed.

The minister further admonished the students to psych their mindset towards harnessing their talents to meet opportunities and make a meaningful impact in societies rather than relying on certificates.

“…Make the most of the opportunities that will come your way, seek education, improve your talents, and build a service mindset. Remember that education is more than just getting your diplomas and degrees. It is about making a difference in the world let us renew our dedication to our education excellence.”
