Deputy Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Gibril, says the 2025 budget scheduled to be presented on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 will reveal the true state of Ghana under the tenure of the National Patriotic Party (NPP).

He accused the former government under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of mismanagement, especially misleading Ghanaians regarding with Free Senior High School policy.

He contended that while the former president claimed 5.7 million students benefited from the policy, official records show that only 3.4 million did.

“Nana Addo stood in parliament and told all Ghanaians that the number of students who benefited from the free SHS policy is 5.7 million, but in reality, documents prove that only 3.4 million students benefited,” he said.

Mr. Gibril also condemned some nuisance taxes imposed by the former president, describing them as acts of wickedness.

He cited the example of the e-levy, noting that the National Women’s Organiser stated during a cabinet meeting that the party was against its implementation and that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was similarly opposed, even though the levy was imposed regardless.

He further criticized the Agenda 111 initiative, which promised the construction of 111 hospitals in districts lacking proper healthcare, arguing that the project did not deliver as claimed.

“They claimed they had constructed hospitals as per the Agenda 111 initiative, but reality dawned on us how false that claim was,” he added.
