The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has approved the request from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) and National Security Council for interaction with two Members of Parliament (MPs), Mustapha Yussif, MP for Yagaba Kubori Constituency, and Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus), MP for Gomoa Central Constituency.

A letter signed by Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, Clerk to Parliament, and addressed to the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau, Charles Alhassan Kipo, confirmed that Parliament, in principle, has agreed to the request.

The decision takes into consideration Articles 117 and 118 of the 1992 Constitution, which outlines the protocols regarding the invitation and participation of MPs in security-related matters.

The Speaker of Parliament has instructed the two MPs to make themselves available for a preliminary interaction with national security officials on Monday, 7 April 2025, at 10:00 AM.

The meeting is set to take place at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room, Office of the Speaker. The MPs have also been advised to have their legal representatives present at the meeting.

The Clerk to Parliament further directed the security officials to contact Parliament’s Legal Services Office for any necessary assistance upon their arrival.

While the specific reasons for the invitation have not been disclosed, the scheduled meeting is expected to provide clarity on the nature of the invitation and its implications for the MPs involved.
