Devote full commitment to your core mandates and stop chasing awards – Mahama tells appointees

The utterances by some Ghanaians, specifically members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ridiculing President John Dramani Mahama after assenting to legislative bills to scrap the nuisance taxes are unnecessary, Ebo Buckman has stated.
According to Mr. Buckman, the bills that paved the way for the elimination of the E-Levy, Betting Tax, Emissions Tax, and other levies are appropriate and should be praised.
He indicated that these taxes, which were implemented under the previous Akufo-Addo government, were a burden on the general public, particularly the unemployed.
The Communication Team member of the Movement for Change, speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), condemned those calling the President names and describing his move as an attempt to please the public.
He pointed out that the President’s reputation is rather elevated for delivering on his pledges while vying for the presidency.
“So, we have to commend President Mahama for being able to scrap these taxes. But as to whether his fulfillment is for show or just for the cameras, he deserves acknowledgement and not name-calling,” he said on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
Owing to this, Ebo Buckman stated that it put to rest the credibility concerns of the people about Mr. Mahama.
“For me, the President has really done well by removing those taxes, and it shows a sign of integrity and credibility,” he stressed.
