GIVE launches project to fight malnutrition among street children

Global Innovative Vocational Education (GIVE), a non-profit organization, has taken a significant step toward supporting street children in Ghana by providing nutritious meals to those in need.

The organization’s founder and CEO, Joanita Amegashie, explained that their mission is to care for underprivileged children, particularly those living on the streets and in orphanages within deprived communities.

Amegashie cited a study revealing that over 50% of street children in Ghana suffer from malnutrition, highlighting the urgent need for intervention. In response, GIVE launched the “Give the Street” project, aimed at delivering regular, nutritious meals to help these children grow healthily and sustain their daily activities.

She explained that ‘GIVE The Street Project’, provides 100 nutritious meal packs every quarter to children experiencing homelessness in different locations across Ghana.

“We came across a study conducted a few years ago that revealed more than 50% of street children are malnourished,” she said at the first-quarter distribution free meals to street children on April 12, 2025, coinciding with the International Day for Street Children,

She added:”This project is our way of helping them grow better, stay nourished, and maintain strength as they go about their daily activities,” Amegashie stated.”

Michael Kwame Aquah, Operations Officer for the National Consortium for Voluntary Organizations Ghana (NCVO), also expressed excitement about collaborating with GIVE. “We partnered with GIVE to offer street children nutritious meals, which we believe will go a long way toward benefiting them,” he said.
