The Minister for Roads and Highways Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza has toured the poor road network in Komenda and assured the chief and residents that construction work will soon be completed to make the roads accessible and beneficial to the community.
According to the Minister, their goal is to fulfill President Mahama’s vision, which recognizes the importance of good roads in the development of every community.
During his visit to the Central Region, the Minister told the Chief of Komenda that the town is an important part of the country.
He added that improving roads in communities across the nation will create many job opportunities.
Mr. Agbodza explained that the purpose of the tour is to assess the condition of roads across the country and identify those in poor shape so they can be fixed.
He noted that President Mahama and Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang took over a struggling economy that no one is happy about.
“We are already under an IMF program, which shows that the economic situation is not good. This has led to issues in the energy sector, delayed payments to contractors, and other challenges. But despite these problems, President Mahama is determined to improve the lives of Ghanaians,” he said.
Mr. Agbodza also assured the Chief of Komenda that the road being inspected is only 5 kilometers long.
He said its completion would help fulfill the dream of the late President Mills to create sustainable jobs in the area.
He added that although President Mills’ dream was not realized, the current government is committed to making sure the road is constructed.
The road also connects to Komenda College of Education, the Komenda township, markets, and other important places.
Construction began in August 2022 and was expected to be completed by August 2023. However, as of April 2025, only 55 percent of the work has been completed, according to the Central Regional Department of Feeder Roads.
Mr. Agbodza was accompanied by his deputy, Alhassan Suhuyini, who is also the MP for Tamale North; the Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah; the Regional Coordinating Director, Bless Kwame Darkey; the MP for KEEA, Samuel Atta Mills; and other dignitaries.
