The Coalition of Political Parties, led by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), today, May 5, 2025, has hit the streets of Accra with the ‘Save The Judiciary’ demonstration in solidarity with Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

This follows the controversial suspension of the Chief Justice, which has sparked widespread public debate.

The NPP, spearheading the protest, has described the suspension as a politically motivated attack on judicial independence.

Other participating parties include the National Democratic Party (NDP), Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), People’s National Party (PNP), among others.

Protesters will march through the principal streets of the Accra metropolis and present a petition to the Judicial Secretary at the Supreme Court.

In a related development, the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has condemned the suspension, describing it as unconstitutional and calling for its immediate reversal.
