The state of roads leading to the tourist sites in Ghana, has drawn criticism from Angel Morning Show (AMS) host, Saddick Adams, who expressed his worries about the issue.

As part of the Nyansapo segment on the AMS, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, he discussed the challenges posed by the poor roads to tourist areas, focusing on the impact on the local communities and highlighting the need for development.

He highlighted that, tourist sites are part of the country’s major sources of income; yet, it seems the government does not invest much in improving these sites.

“Tourist sites generate revenue every year, especially the ones located in the typical areas like the Kakum National Park, Kintampo Waterfalls and so on all have very bad roads, meanwhile, the government is not putting in any effort to enhance these roads,” he criticized.

According to Saddick, the state of these roads will discourage tourists who visit these sceneries from returning and will not also recommend these attractive sites to others who would want to visit.

“Imagine a tourist recommending these sites to others, they will complain about the roads and will not find the urge to visit again; A place like Shai Hills is one of the nicest attractive sites where one would love to visit when he or she sees pictures of the environment.

“But the road leading to that area is very poor, meanwhile, they charge tourists money for every tour they embark there. Where does the money go to? The monies they generate can even fix most of the roads,” he said.

He added that, the state of the roads worsen especially during rainy seasons, making it very difficult for vehicles to pass there to the sites.

“It becomes worse when it rains; sometimes it is difficult for a car to pass there, unless you walk and some of these areas are 4km journeys; do you expect a white man visiting such places to walk this long distance?” he queried.

He further urged the government, especially the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), to make it a priority and put the deplorable state of these roads into consideration and ensure they are fixed as these tourist sites generate revenue to the state.
