Two persons- Chinese national and his Ghanaian driver- have been shot dead at Subri Nkwanta in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipality of the Western North Region.
It is unclear what may have caused the shooting but the two were found lifeless in the blood-stained vehicle they were driving in a mining site close to where the incident happened.
The deceased whose identities are not yet given, are believed to be engaged in the illegal small scale mining business know as galamsey.
Assembly member for Kojina electoral area, Frank Addae have confirmed the incident to Angel News’ Correspondent, Kofi Gyabaah.
According to him, he had a distress call that a Chinese and a Ghanaian had been shot dead at a galamsey site by unknown assailants.
A security guard for the Chinese and another driver who sustained severe injuries, have been rushed to the Anhwiaso Community Hospital for treatment, Mr Addae added.
Meanwhile, bodies of the deceased have been sent to the morgue for autopsy and preservation while the Bibiani police have initiated investigations into the incident.
