The Ghana Police Service has interdicted an officer captured in a viral video assaulting a journalist during election coverage duties at Ablekuma North in the Greater Accra Region.
According to a statement released by the Police Affairs Directorate, the officer was promptly withdrawn from his role in the ongoing re-run election operation.
The statement further noted that disciplinary procedures have commenced, with the officer referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for investigation.
“The officer concerned has been withdrawn from the ongoing election duty at Ablekuma North; and in line with internal disciplinary procedures, he has been interdicted and referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau for investigation.”
The Police Service assured the public of a thorough investigation and pledged to provide updates as the case progresses.
