The Ghana Police Service is celebrating a major milestone as its women’s football team, Police Ladies FC, has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Ghanaian champions secured their semi-final berth following a decisive 3-1 victory over ASKO of Togo in their final group stage match over the weekend.
Police Ladies, after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens in their opening match, bounced back with a commanding back-to-back 3-1 win over Sam Nelly FC from Benin and Togo’s ASKO on match day two and three.
This win placed them second in their group with six points and plus of three goals, sealing their advancement to the knockout stage
The team is now set to face Ivorian side Asec Mimosas at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium on Tuesday, September 2.
A victory in this crucial semi-final clash will propel the Police Ladies into the finals, bringing them one step closer to continental glory.
