The National Sanitation Day initiative, aimed at prioritising environmental cleanliness, should be a call to action for Ghanaian citizens, President John Dramani Mahama has urged.
He reminded the general public of the need to take ownership of the environment, and thus view the National Sanitation Day as more than just an event.
“Let us all commit to maintaining clean communities, not just on designated days, but every day. Let’s build on this momentum!,” President Mahama said in a Facebook post on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
Mr. Mahama also encouraged collaborative efforts for a cleaner environment while championing sanitation initiatives in the country.
“I urge all Ghanaians to join hands and actively participate in keeping our surroundings clean,” he added.
His message coincided with the relaunch of the National Sanitation Day on Saturday, September 6, where he attended the event.
As part of a broader acknowledgment of advocacy groups championing sanitation in the country, the President donated essential sanitation tools to the BuzStopBoys.
They received 200 wheelbarrows, 300 shovels, 300 brooms, 300 pairs of hand gloves, and a supply of standing brushes.
According to the President, the donation was meant to bolster their commendable efforts nationwide.
He noted that the BuzStopBoys’ dedication to fostering a cleaner environment must be exemplified.
