The curfew hours for Binduri, Bawku Township, and surrounding areas in the Upper East Region have been renewed.
The curfew runs from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., effective Monday, September 15, 2025.
The decision was made by the Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, acting on the advice of the National Security Council.
In a statement issued by the ministry, the minister also announced a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within the area.
Additionally, the movement of motorbikes and individuals wearing smocks, both men and women is prohibited during the curfew period.
According to the statement, any persons found in possession of arms or ammunition will be “arrested and prosecuted.”
The Ministry called on Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents of the area to exercise restraint and adopt non-violent means to channel their energies toward fostering peace.
“Government urges Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.”
