The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East, Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyer, has commissioned 20 boreholes for the people of Agona Kwanyarko and its surrounding communities to help resolve the long-standing water crisis in the area.

During the commissioning of these mechanical boreholes, Hon. Pokua Sawyer revealed that over one hundred communities in her constituency will benefit from fifty mechanised boreholes as part of efforts to provide clean and safe drinking water to residents.

She noted that the project is part of her commitment to improving the living conditions of the people and ensuring access to potable water in every community across Agona East.

According to her, work on the borehole installations is progressing steadily, and the project will soon reach other communities still facing water challenges.

“As I promised my people, in case they need something and I couldn’t deliver, it means I couldn’t perform my responsibilities.

“So every time I pray to God that such things, He should open doors for me. And so when the water crisis issues came to Agona East and the message got to the President (John Dramani Mahama), the government gave us the authority for up to 50, and God being so good, we’re done with 20.

“So it is the 20 that we’re handing over to them.

“We pray that in about two weeks we could finish, and as they’re working on another 20, eventually we’ll do it so that every house there should have a mini-borehole.

“There’s a company that does that, so I am negotiating with them. But with that, they’ll pay their water bill. If that is done and it is not a borehole, what we’re doing now is totally free,” she assured.
