The Registrar of the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, has cautioned the general public against engaging individuals who demand money for scholarship applications.

He stated that the Secretariat does not charge unsuspecting Ghanaians any fees for the application process.

“The Secretariat does not charge any fees for scholarship applications or awards,” he warned.

He urged Ghanaians to be cautious about involving third parties in the application process and advised that all dealings be conducted solely through the Secretariat.

“I wish to caution the public to remain vigilant and rely only on the Secretariat’s official communication channel being scholarships.gov.gh.

“I encourage anyone who suspects or may have fallen victim to fraudulent schemes in the name of the Secretariat to report and submit any hard evidence that will lead to the apprehension and prosecution of the suspect,” Mr. Asafo-Agyei added.

The Registrar emphasised the importance of combating fraudulent practices associated with the Secretariat and called for shared responsibility.

“Let us continue working together to expose fraudsters and protect the integrity of our national scholarship system.”

Mr. Asafo-Agyei made this known in a statement on his Facebook page on Thursday, October 30, 2025, after the Secretariat collaborated with the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to arrest one Emmanuel Ofori.

The arrest follows the suspect’s alleged involvement in operating fake scholarship schemes and defrauding unsuspecting Ghanaians of huge sums of money.
