General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua, has said that the party’s election verification exercise is to ensure free and transparent electoral process in its forthcoming presidential primaries.
Speaking at a press conference held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, he explained that the rational behind the verification exercise is to determine whether the party has a credible register for the elections scheduled for January 31, 2026.
According to him, electoral disputes mostly stem from the issue of voters’ register, therefore, addressing them is key to attaining credible elections.
Mr. Kodua added that, for the first time, the party invited the aspirants of the flagbearer position to bring their representatives to witness the verification exercise.
“They are very certain that the way and manner the exercise was conducted, they are going to have a free and fair election coming January 31, 2026,” he said.
He stated that the party received a report on all issues that came up during the verification exercise, in which the report has been given to an Amnesty Committee constituted by the National Council of the party to go through and advise the party.
Members of the Amnesty Committee are; Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim Central, Peter Mac Manu, Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Mr. Divine Otoo Agorhom, Director of Communications, Hajia Rabi Salifu, and the Director of Research, Evans Nimako.
