Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced a groundbreaking development in Ghana’s passport application process.
According to a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, effective Thursday, November 13, 2025, Ghanaians can obtain a passport within just 1 day through a new expedited service.
He explained that the 1-Day Passport Delivery Service aims to address emergency situations where citizens face travel or medical crises with expired or missing passports.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa described the service as part of an ongoing “bold and innovative passport reforms.”
He noted that while the standard new passport application fee of GHS350 guarantees delivery in under 15 days, the 1-day service comes with special charges of GHS 2000.
The initiative is expected to provide relief to citizens needing urgent travel documents, though specifics on eligibility and application processes for the expedited service are awaited.
