The National President of the Oil Palm Development Association of Ghana, Paul Kwabena Amaning, has underscored the significance of President John Dramani Mahama’s initiative, stressing its potential to create more jobs nationwide.

He stated that the policy directive measures will boost economic growth and create employment by promoting the local processing of raw materials, which will also reduce importation taxes.

“In Malaysia, the policy directive enforces taxes on raw materials while exempting finished products.

“If applied in Ghana, it could create more jobs and remove taxes on raw materials.

“So there is a need for local processing instead of exporting raw materials,” he cited

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Friday, November 21, 2025, he disclosed that research conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) emphasizes the importance of building structured palm oil mill plants, with investment costs varying by capacity.

He further highlighted that women engaged in red oil production will benefit from safer working conditions, reducing exposure to harmful gases.

“With a $500 million investment in palm oil production, where women currently make up 40% to 60% of the workforce.

“These mills can be structured to ensure safe working conditions, reducing exposure to harmful gases,” he added.

He also emphasized that the investment will create jobs for graduates and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in packaging and production, supporting President Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy.

“Structured mills are not just about production, they will create safe, inclusive, opportunities for university graduates, and persons with disabilities across Ghana,” he added
