The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has declared an intensified nationwide crackdown on criminal syndicates, vowing to dismantle their networks and restore public confidence in security operations.

According to the Police Administration, they will pursue and fish out criminal groups hiding across the country.

This vow was declared by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, during the official handing-over ceremony of the Armoured Vehicles to the Police Administration, on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

He said “Your Excellency, these vehicles are going to completely change the face and dynamics of police operations, with these vehicles we are going to launch very bold, robust and targeted operations throughout the country.

“We will dismantle any existing criminal networks, both of whom have gone into hiding due to our intensified activities against them,” the IGP pledged.

Mr. Yohuno warned that they will equally go after persons who remain adamant in attempting to temper the peace of the nation.

“Let me use this opportunity to send a strong word of caution to persons who have decided to disturb the security of this country, we are coming for you, you can run all you want, and hide wherever you wish, but we will surely get you.”

The IGP expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his commitment to retooling the Police Administration to protect the citizenry.

“Your Excellency, on behalf of the entire Ghana Police Service service, I wish to sincerely express our gratitude to you and your government for thinking about us, for prioritizing our welfare to enable us to perform even better for the good people of the country.

“I am particularly delighted that today we are receiving these armoured vehicles which are going to ensure utmost protection for our officers to execute our mandate of protecting life and property and ensuring the safety and security of all persons across the country,” Mr. Yohuno added.

He further assured that the vehicles will be given a strong maintenance culture and strategically deployed to achieve the intended objectives.
