Leader of the Union Government (UG), Akwasi Addae Odike, stated that former President John Agyekum Kufuor comments about the leadership of Akufo-Addo under the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration signal the disorganized state of the party.
He expressed concern about the growing spate of the party shifting blame onto Akuffo-Addo, knowing that it is fundamentally a group with one ideology and common interests.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Monday, December 8, 2025, he remarked that Kufuor intends to shift blame onto Akuffo-Addo to garner sympathy for the NPP, suggesting that it was not the party but Akuffo-Addo who erred.
Mr. Odike blamed the former President for remaining silent during Akuffo-Addo government when fully aware of his leadership style, instead of speaking out at that time.
“When Akuffo-Addo was dismissing Paul Afoko and others, and appointing 156 ministers, Kufuor remained silent,” he noted.
Odike expressed disappointment at Kufuor statements, given his core membership in the party, and stated that “I didn’t expect this from you because you are part of the party.”
According to Odike, “All that Akuffo-Addo did was based on organizational decisions, but we want to know about individual accountability and probity concerning each person involvement. What did Kufuor do while Akuffo-Addo was making these decisions?”
