Controversial media personality Afia Schwarzenegger has strongly criticized the government over the alleged approval of a Ghanaian passport to American YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, following backlash faced by GHOne TV presenter Lilly Mohammed.
Speaking during a live stream on TikTok, Afia Schwarzenegger questioned the speed at which the passport was reportedly processed for the visiting influencer, while many Ghanaians struggle for months to acquire the same document.
“My question is, so a passport can be done in a day for someone to take it away, while some Ghanaians who want to travel are begging and waiting for months?” she lamented.
Afia Schwarzenegger also condemned the public apology issued by Lilly Mohammed after her criticism of the government went viral, describing it as insincere and unnecessary.
“We all know the apology she made was a false apology. Whatever she said was true, and whoever asked for that apology should be ashamed,” she stated.
She further described the entire incident as an embarrassment to the country, urging authorities to show respect for Ghana and its citizens.
“What happened was an exhibition of foolishness. If you don’t respect Ghana, this is the only Ghana we have,” she added.
Afia also compared Ghana’s actions to Nigeria, noting that despite IShowSpeed’s popularity, Nigeria did not offer him citizenship or a passport during his visit.
“Stop sharing passports as if the country is a forest. Nigerians didn’t even give him a passport,” she said.
She concluded by demanding accountability from officials involved in the alleged passport gaining, questioning why ordinary citizens must wait between three to five months or longer for passports, while a foreign visitor could reportedly receive one in less than six hours.
“Whoever is seeking an apology should tell Ghanaians why people have to wait months for a passport, yet someone else gets it in less than six hours. Aren’t you ashamed?” she asked.
