The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed Mahdi Gibril as a new Acting Director of Elections and Information Technology, following deliberations and consensus reached at a meeting of the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was formally communicated in a letter signed by the General Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
According to the letter, the appointment is in recognition of the appointee’s experience, competence, and commitment to the party, particularly in the areas of electoral management and information technology.
In the new role, the Acting Director will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities relating to elections management, electoral strategy, data systems, and information technology operations of the party, subject to further directives that may be issued by the leadership.
The appointee is expected to work closely with the General Secretary, the Functional Executive Committee, the National Executive Committee, and other relevant directorates to ensure the effective discharge of duties in accordance with the NDC’s Constitution, regulations, and policies.
The General Secretary noted that the appointment is acting in nature and will remain in force until otherwise directed by the party.
The NDC congratulated the appointee and expressed confidence in their capacity to strengthen the party’s electoral systems and operational readiness as it positions itself for upcoming internal processes and national elections.
