I’ll form my own party if NPP executives are re-elected – Kennedy Agyapong

The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong has raised security and logistical concerns ahead of the party’s internal presidential election, calling on the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Ghana Police Service to take urgent steps to protect the integrity of the process.

In a statement signed by the camp’s Security and Intelligence Spokesperson, Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, the team said intelligence from the field suggests the EC lacks adequate vehicles to distribute ballot papers across all 276 constituencies, leading to the use of EC-approved private vehicles under police escort.

However, the camp reported isolated incidents in the Ashanti, Western, and Greater Accra regions, where ballot materials were allegedly moved without the required EC-approved vehicles, a situation it warned could undermine confidence in the exercise if left unchecked.

The statement urged heightened vigilance by security agencies and election officials to ensure the contest remains free, fair, and transparent.

It also cautioned against the circulation of old videos from the 2023 NPP presidential primaries, warning that such materials could create tension, intimidate delegates, and negatively affect the democratic process.

Describing the flagbearer race as an internal democratic exercise, the camp stressed that delegates must be allowed to vote freely without pressure or interference.

The team further assured the public that its intelligence monitoring remains active and reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful conduct and credible internal elections.
