The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), commemorated the International Day for Women and Girls in Science.
The commemoration was marked with a project exhibition showcasing innovative scientific works led by girls.
The event, themed “GirlsInTech: From Vision to Impact – Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap,” aimed to highlight the contributions of women and girls to STEM education and practice.
Students from various schools engaged with the exhibits, exploring new ideas and asking thoughtful questions.
Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Professor Smile Gavua Dzisi, emphasized that girls must see themselves at the forefront of STEM, encouraging them to be curious, ask questions, and use their voices boldly.
She also urged boys to support and champion girls’ ideas in STEM.
The event aimed to inspire girls to pursue STEM opportunities confidently, with Mrs. Olivia Serwaa Opare, Director of the Science Education Unit, emphasizing the importance of girls competing with their male counterparts in science.
