Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Tamale Metro Fire Station have saved the RedClay Tourist Center in Janna, Northern Region, from major destruction after a fire outbreak on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
According to the fire service, the blaze, which affected one of the exhibition trains, was reportedly caused by welding activity.

An emergency call was received at 5:29 p.m., and a team of eight firefighters led by Station Officer I Ganiwu was dispatched promptly, arriving at the scene at 5:40 p.m.

The fire was brought under control at 6:00 p.m. and fully extinguished at 6:09 p.m. with no casualties recorded.

The team successfully salvaged one of the two trains and prevented the fire from spreading to the entire tourist facility.

The GNFS has urged welders to adhere to safety protocols to prevent similar incidents.
