The family of late Ghanaian gospel musician Yaw Sarpong has announced that his final funeral rites will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Details about the venue and burial arrangements are expected to be communicated in the coming weeks, according to close sources.
Yaw Sarpong, known for his decades-long contribution to gospel music and his work with the Asomafo band, passed away earlier this year after a period of ill health.
His music, marked by powerful lyrics and traditional highlife influences, remains widely played across churches and Christian gatherings in Ghana.
Colleagues in the gospel fraternity have described him as a mentor and a pillar whose impact shaped the genre for generations.
