Ghanaian rapper, Edem, has sparked conversation among fans after hinting at a possible return to his former stage name, “Ayigbe Edem,” due to what he describes as growing confusion over multiple accounts using the name “Edem” on social media.
In a post shared on his socials, the award-winning musician revealed he had been discussing the issue with his team, noting that although his page is verified, the similarity in names makes it difficult for fans to easily identify his official presence online.
“I was telling my team there are too many ‘Edem’s on the social. Tho’ mine is verified we should bring ‘Ayigbe Edem’ back so the difference is clear… Guys what do you think,” he wrote.
The suggestion quickly drew mixed reactions from followers, with many advising him to keep the brand he has built over the years.
One fan argued that the name “Edem” is already strongly associated with the rapper and changing it could dilute his recognition.
“He shouldn’t. He has done a great job establishing the name and owning it. Mention the name Edem in the world of entertainment and he is the first that comes in mind,” the fan commented.
The same user encouraged the rapper to focus on strengthening his publicity rather than rebranding.
“Instead of adding the name Ayigbe, I think he should do more consistent P.R with the name Edem locally and internationally. Edem Goget’em,” the comment added.
Another fan was more direct, stating, “He shouldn’t have changed the name in the first place.”
