The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has received a transformative donation of GHS 1,000,000 from FuelTrade Ghana Limited, a solely owned Ghanaian Bulk Distribution Company (BDC).
The donation forms part of Fueltrade’s corporate social responsibility and dovetail’s into GETFund’s novelty strategic partnerships with the private sector, and represents the first major corporate partnership secured by its newly established Fundraising department.
Presenting the cheque on behalf of Fueltrade, Ms. Christabel Sewornu, Chief Human Resource Manager, pointed out that this partnership presents them an opportunity to support impactful and sustainable educational interventions, particularly in the areas of scholarship and infrastructure which are essential elements for youth empowerment.
In a communique signed by the Deputy Director of Finance of Fueltrade, Mr. Baffour Appiah Danquah he expressed their pleasure to collaborate with GETFund through this initiative.
He stressed that Fueltrade remained firmly dedicated to investing in the communities in which it operated and to supporting initiatives that promote long term socio-economic development.
Receiving the cheque, the GETFund Administrator, Mr. Paul Adjei expressed his appreciation to Fueltrade, while describing the contribution as a demonstration of corporate responsibility and confidence in education as a driver of national development.
Mr Adjei pointed out that the donation aligned with GETFund’s vision of improving access to quality education through the provision of infrastructure and strengthening the learning environment for students across the country.
As part of the partnership framework, he disclosed that GETFund has negotiated with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to ensure that donations to the Fund qualified for tax deductions under the Income Tax Act 2015 (ACT 896).
Such an arrangement, according to Mr. Adjei enables corporate entities to fulfil their corporate social responsibilities while supporting national educational priorities, assuring that “this and other donations will be utilized with efficiency and full accountability, and regular updates and impact reports will be shared with the public through GETFund’s official platforms.”
