Kojo Sebor urges gov’t to stop arresting non-commercial drug users

The host of Angel Drive, Kojo Sebor, has expressed his disapproval of the criminalization of marijuana possession in small quantities, urging authorities in the country to reconsider the approach.

His comments follow the recent arrest of a man who was reportedly found with two rolls of marijuana.

Speaking on the matter, Sebor said he does not support the criminalization of marijuana possession when it is meant for recreational use and not for commercial purposes.

“I don’t agree with the criminalization of marijuana possession, especially for recreational use,” he said.

According to him, the individual who was arrested likely had the substance for personal use rather than for medicinal purposes or for sale.

Sebor argued that it is unfair for law enforcement to arrest someone simply for possessing a small amount of marijuana.

“He possessed it for recreational purposes, not for medicinal use or for selling it commercially. Yet because of that, you arrest a scientist. It’s my opinion, and I still stand by it,” he stated.

The broadcaster added that he is strongly against the arrest of people found with small quantities of the substance.

“I am against arresting someone for having a joint or two. Even if it is five joints, I don’t think it is right,” he said.

Sebor also questioned the consistency in how the law is applied, pointing out that individuals who possess certain painkillers, such as Tramadol, are only arrested when they exceed a specific quantity.

“I believe everything is guided by law. Even with painkillers, when we buy tramadol and possess it in excess, the police can arrest us. So why should you arrest someone for having two or three joints? he quizzed.

He therefore called for a review of how the law treats people who possess small amounts of marijuana strictly for personal use.
