Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson held a productive engagement with the Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer of the World Bank, Mr. Paschal Donohoe on Ghana’s economic transformation through job creation.
In the social media post dated Monday, March16, 2026, the Minister underscored the need to tackle youth unemployment in the country.
He noted that the public sector alone will find it difficult to absorb the growing youthful population, however policies and programs are underway to create sustainable jobs.
“Africa has a rapidly growing youthful population, and it is clear that public sector employment alone cannot provide the opportunities our young people need.
“We are therefore putting in place major policies and programmes to sustainably create jobs,” the statement disclosed.
Speaking on the matter, Mr. Donohoe indicated that the World Bank stands ready to continue supporting Ghana through the Jobs and Growth Analysis initiative, adding that the “initiative will identify new opportunities for job.”
