The Beginnings Fund has committed $40 million to support Ghana’s efforts to reduce maternal and newborn mortality.
This investment is part of a broader $500 million strategy to be implemented over five years across ten African countries.

The fund will focus on building the capacity of health professionals, supporting the recruitment of additional workers, and equipping facilities with cost-effective, life-saving innovations.
Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, welcomed the collaborative approach, stating that maternal mortality is a major concern for the government, which aims to reduce deaths among mothers and newborns by 20% through reforms.

The Beginnings Fund’s Chief Executive Officer, Alice Kang’e, emphasized the organization’s commitment to co-creating solutions aligned with Ghana’s policy priorities.

The initiative is expected to improve healthcare quality and reduce mortality rates.
