The Ghana Tertiary Commission (GTEC) has ordered management of the Royal Nursing College to immediately refund all fees paid by level 100 and level 200 students.

The Commission directives follows the shut down of the institution on February 19, 2026, situated at Tafo Nhyiaeso, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region was affected for various regulatory irregularities and anomalies.

GTEC held a meeting on March 11, 2026 with representatives of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), which is the affiliate University of the Royal Nursing College to discuss the issue.

In a statement issued March 19, 2026, GTEC said it discovered that UCC has no record of students in Levels 100 and 200, indicating that these students were neither properly admitted nor matriculated.

The Commission says it therefore, does not recognise the students as they were admitted by the College at a time when its accreditation had been revoked and had been directed to stop fresh admissions.

“The College is therefore required to refund all fees paid by these students,” GTEC said.

It noted that, the UCC will conduct an audit of all students currently in Level 300 and will absorb only those who meet the prescribed entry requirements.

The Commission stressed that its earlier directive on the closure of the College remains in force, as GTEC has revoked its accreditation, Nursing and Midwifery Council has also withdrawn its licence, and UCC has suspended its affiliation.

GTEC said Management members of the College who were arrested for breaching regulatory directives during the inspection have been processed for prosecution.

“The general public is advised to verify the accreditation status of tertiary institutions and their programmes with GTEC before seeking admission.”

GTEC said it remains committed to ensuring quality, integrity, and order within the tertiary education sector
