The National Chief Imam, His Eminence Shaikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has called on Muslims across the country to mark this year’s Eid Al-Fitr celebrations within the bounds of decency, modesty, and legality.

He advised while delivering his congratulatory message to the Muslim fraternity on the occasion of the successful completion and observation of the 2026 Holy Month of Ramadan.

He reminded Muslims that the spiritual cleansing acquired during fasting must translate into positive behavioral change that reflects both societal norms and the laws of the state.

Quoting from the Holy Quran, Chapter 2, Verse 183, His Eminence emphasized that the true essence of Ramadan lies in attaining piety, which should be evident in the conduct of believers after the fast.

“The divine reward should reflect in our behaviors, celebrate the Eid within the bounds of decency, modesty, and legality,” he stressed, adding that “spiritual cleansing acquired in the Holy Month of Ramadan is meaningless unless it has the capacity to guarantee the quality of attitudinal transformation in the interest of society.”

The Chief Imam described Eid-Al-Fitr not only as a time of celebration but also of reflection and urged Muslims to uphold values central to human wellbeing, including “patriotism, humanitarianism, and collectivism”, as Ghana continues to build a secular state characterized by cultural diversity and interfaith harmony.

His Eminence prayed for justice in the world, peace in the Middle East, stability in Africa, and prosperity in Ghana.
