Twelve arrested over robbery, three allegedly linked to murder of Kusasi Chief in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested twelve suspects in connection with a series of robberies and the alleged murderer of the Kusasi Chief at Asawase in Kumasi.

According to a police statement, the arrests were made successful through intelligence-led operations carried out in the region.

The suspects have been identified as Abdalah Alhassan, Jemini Usman (alias Babamu or Guru), Aminu Iddrisu (0244), Illiasu Dauda, Majeed Issaka Jibril, Gafaru Ibrahim, Mohammed Mumuni (alias Mama), Tanko Malik (alias Bronze), Mohammed Bawa (alias Mallam), Dramani Musah, Suleman Yasir Arafat (alias Obasanjo), and Ashaidu Sumbieda (alias Eyeshadow).

The Police said that three suspects, including Jemini Usman, Suleman Yasir Arafat, and Ashaidu Sumbieda, have been linked to the murder of the Kusasi Chief, with a Toyota Corolla (GC-439-21), “believed to have been used by the suspects, has been retrieved.”

During the police operation, two other suspects, identified as Illiasu Bawa and David Aheto, sustained gunshot wounds and were later pronounced dead.

The Police recovered several weapons and ammunition during the operation include two AK-47 assault rifles, one pump-action gun, two pistols, forty-four rounds of 32 ammunition, and twenty-four rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Police added that one suspect, Illiasu, alias Abodam, is yet to be apprehended, with efforts underway to bring him to justice.
