The Government of Egypt has donated nine thousand five-hundred (9,500) doses of hepatitis C vaccines, valued at nearly USD 80,000, to Ghana government.
Presenting the donation on Tuesday, March, 24, 2026, the Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, Wael Fathy Ahmed, described the gesture as a reflection of the growing cooperation between Ghana and Egypt.

He emphasized that African countries supporting one another is imperative, particularly in the face of global health challenges.
He stressed that it was time for African nations to work together to address shared health challenges and reduce dependence on external support.
Mr. Ahmed further highlighted that the partnership between Egypt and Ghana extends beyond donations, pointing to opportunities for collaboration in pharmaceutical development and vaccine manufacturing in Ghana.

Receiving the vaccines on behalf of the government, the Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, expressed appreciation for the gesture.
She described the donation as “timely, especially in an era where foreign aid is declining.”
She noted that receiving such support from a fellow African country reinforces the importance of intra-African solidarity and cooperation.
Ms. Ayensu-Danquah also indicated that Ghana looks forward to deepening collaboration with Egypt in other critical areas of the health sector.
