The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Prof. Ransford Edward Van Gyampo, has addressed a circulating video clip, saying it was edited to mislead the public.
In a social media post on Thursday, March 26, 2026, Prof. Gyampo explained that the video, which shows him speaking about former President Akufo-Addo’s call for reparations on TV3’s “Key Points,” was “curled” or edited to take attention away from President John Mahama’s achievement.
Prof. Gyampo stated that President Mahama had gotten the world to officially admit that the transatlantic slave trade was a grievous crime against humanity.
He explained that reparations are part of a broader discussion on strategies for African development and that the call for reparations should be considered alongside addressing corruption and negative attitudes in Africa.
“The call for reparation would be meaningless if we do not address head-on corruption, waste, and change our negative attitude,” Prof. Gyampo said.
He urged the public to consider the context of the edited video and watch the full discussion on TV3’s archives.
Prof. Gyampo praised President Mahama’s efforts, saying they are credible and likely to bring change to Ghana.
“Congratulations Mr. President, the useless jandam to throw sand in our gari can’t wash,” he added.
