Four people have died following a road crash at Sawaba No. 2, along the Buipe-Tamale highway, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
The accident involved a Sprinter Benz bus with registration number AS 9332-17, traveling from Buipe to Kumasi, and a hit-and-run trailer truck.
The deceased, two females and two males, include three who died at the scene and one who passed away later at the hospital.
Nineteen other passengers sustained multiple injuries and were rescued before being rushed to the Buipe Government Hospital for emergency treatment.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), which responded to the emergency, handed over the bodies to the Police for preservation and further investigation.
According to GNFS, the Sprinter Benz sustained severe damage, with preliminary investigations suggesting that the trailer truck caused the crash before fleeing.
Officials noted that the emergency response provided by GNFS personnel helped prevent further casualties.
