The Ashanti Regional Manager of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Jerry Edem Aflabo, has says most Toyota Voxy vehicles operating commercially were originally registered for private use.
Expressing disappointment over the increasing road crashes involving Toyota Voxy vehicles, he noted that many of these cars, though officially registered as private, are being used for commercial activities.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Kessben FM, Mr. Aflabo stressed that the practice violates vehicle registration laws and undermines regulatory efforts within the transport sector.
According to him, the development poses road safety risks, creates improper insurance coverage, and results in loss of revenue for the state.
He reiterated the Authority’s commitment to enforcing compliance, describing it as instrumental to sanitizing the transport system.
Mr. Aflabo further called on the general public to support the DVLA in this cause.
