Nigerian authorities have handed over three Ghanaian men to immigration officials after they were discovered hiding in a cargo ship docked in Lagos.
According to a report by DW Africa, the stowaway men claimed they boarded the vessel believing it was bound for Europe, possibly Britain, Spain or Canada; only to find themselves in Nigerian waters.
Investigations revealed the trio used a canoe to sneak onto the ship before it left Ivorian waters.
They carried basic supplies including gari, water, biscuits, and sugar for their clandestine journey.
The stowaways remained concealed in the cargo ship for about five days at sea before being detected.
Nigerian immigration officials are processing the Ghanaian nationals according to legal protocols for unauthorized entry.
