The Environmental Health and Sanitation Department of the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality has embarked on a sensitization exercise aimed at protecting public health by flushing out expired products from the area.
During the exercise, the Department seized expired items and educated vendors on the dangers of selling and consuming them.
The initiative was led by the Director of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department, Joseph Krampa. He explained that the operation targeted cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, beverages, provisions, and alcoholic drinks, with officials confiscating a significant quantity of expired items from various vendors.
In an interview with Angel FM’s reporter, Van Brown, Mr. Krampa emphasized the importance of public awareness, stating:
“We conduct these exercises regularly to ensure that our citizens are informed about the risks associated with expired products. It is crucial for the health and safety of our community.”
He noted that offenders will face legal repercussions, with cases taken to court for prosecution. He further urged residents to report suspicious products or vendors to the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department.
Mr. Krampa also made a fervent appeal to the government for assistance in the form of vehicles to enhance their operations, citing an increase in complaints about expired food items in local markets.
“We need vehicles to effectively monitor and enforce regulations,” he stressed.
