Italian Serie A side ACF Fiorentina has announced the official termination of Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey’s contract by mutual consent less than a year at the club.

According to a statement released on the club’s website, the decision was reached following an agreement between both parties.

“ACF Fiorentina announces that Tariq Lamptey’s contract with the club has been terminated by mutual consent,” the club stated on Monday, May 11, 2026.

Fiorentina, although, did not provide further details on the reasons behind the decision, reports in Italy suggest it is linked to the player’s persistent injury problems since his arrival in Florence, Tuscany.

Lamptey joined Fiorentina from Brighton & Hove Albion in September 2025, but his time at the club was plagued by recurring injuries that prevented him from showcasing his full potential.

The 25-year-old managed only 26 minutes of football during his stint with the Viola, featuring briefly in matches against SSC Napoli and Como.

With his spell at the Stadio Artemio Franchi now over, the Ghanaian international will begin the search for a new club as a free agent.

Born Tariq Kwame Nii-Lante Lamptey, he signed for Fiorentina on September 1, 2025, in a deal worth €6 million plus add-ons.

His final appearance came on September 21 against Como, where he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear, an injury that ultimately marked the end of his time in Florence.
