GETFund warns public about fake online contract award notices

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has cautioned the public against fraudulent publications and fake contract award notices being circulated in the name of the organization.

In a statement released by the GETFund Corporate Affairs Department, the Fund revealed that “certain individuals and groups are spreading misleading information about supposed GETFund contract opportunities and procurement engagements in order to deceive unsuspecting members of the public and extort money from prospective bidders and contractors.”

GETFund emphasized that the publications are “false, unauthorized, and do not originate from the fund.”

It clarified that it does not award works contracts directly to contractors; instead, projects are allocated to coordinating councils after parliamentary approval and requests from stakeholders such as institution heads, Members of Parliament and MMDCEs.

GETFund advised that anyone engaging with persons behind these fraudulent notices does so at their own risk, and will not deal with such individuals in any official capacity.

The fund also stated it will not be liable for any loss or financial commitment arising from dealings connected to these fake publications.

GETFund said it is collaborating with the Ghana Police Service and other national security agencies to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators.

The fund urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities linked to the fake contract schemes to the nearest police station or security agency.

The organization also noted that all official GETFund procurement processes, contract awards, and public notices are communicated only through authorized and verifiable channels, in line with established public procurement laws.

GETFund reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and protecting the public from fraudulent activities carried out in its name.
