The National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration under President John Dramani Mahama has resorted to giving unimportant issues the attention that should be reserved for major priorities, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid has asserted.

He emphasized and expressed concerns about the government’s leadership direction, indicating that important issues that should receive more focus are instead getting little thought.

Mustapha Abdul-Hamid observed this in an interview on Angel TV, after he observed that the NDC government has failed in the policy direction regarding the implementation of the 24-hour economy, a flagship campaign promise made before the 2024 general elections.

According to him, Mr. Mahama and his appointees have been wasting time on the trivial needs of the Ghanaian citizenry while entirely ignoring the larger and more critical ones.

He cited a scenario where the Dormaahene, Nana Agyemang Badu II, told the President frankly that the 24-hour economy market they had planned to construct for his people at Dormaa was unimportant at the time, as former President Akufo-Addo had already constructed a market facility for them.

The Dormaahene, according to Mustapha Hamid, urged Mr. Mahama to rather channel his energy towards an uncompleted Agenda 111 Hospital facility for completion, as it would significantly save lives and provide the community access to quality healthcare delivery.

“When President Mahama went to Dormaa, the Dormaahene told him that, frankly speaking, the 24-hour economy market to be constructed there is not our priority because Akufo-Addo has already built a market for us. So, kindly consider completing the Agenda 111 hospital facility in the area for us, which could save lives and serve residents whenever they are unwell,” he told Ohemaa Sakyiwaa on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
