One person has been confirmed dead, and several others injured after two articulated trucks collided at the outskirts of Assin Nsuta on the Cape Coast–Kumasi Highway.

According to Angel FM’s reporter, Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack, the accident occurred at about 11:12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2026.

He reported that personnel from the Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), together with the Regional Operations Unit, rushed to the scene to rescue trapped victims from the mangled vehicles.

The injured include the driver of a Shackman articulated truck, 33-year-old Gariba Daniel, and two passengers, Vincent Anamman Ofosu, 36 years, and Bridget Dadzie, 25 years.

They were transported to St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Foso for treatment.

Hospital officials later confirmed that Vincent Anaman was pronounced dead on arrival, while Gariba Daniel and Bridget Dadzie, who is the wife of the deceased, remain on admission receiving treatment.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The driver of the second vehicle, 38-year-old Yaya Latif, and his mate, Issah Mohammed, also sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the Assin Anyinabrim Health Clinic, according to emergency responders.

Central North Regional MTTD Commander, ASP Wonder Lumor, explained that preliminary police investigations indicate the Shackman truck, with registration number GX 3858-25, was loaded with klinka and travelling from Takoradi towards Kumasi when it allegedly ran into a pothole upon reaching the outskirts of Assin Nsuta.

He added that the impact caused the driver to lose control, veer into the opposite lane, and crash into the rear trailer and tyres of a Howo flatbed articulated truck with registration number GT 8837-23, which was travelling from the opposite direction.

The reports further indicate that both vehicles suffered extensive damage in the collision.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Central North Regional MTTD.
