Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, says under no circumstances should the Black Stars be underestimated heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He expressed optimism that the Stars will have a successful campaign at the tournament.
Speaking on the team’s chances with Pan-African Football, Mr. Nyantakyi called for national support for the team as he reiterated his hope and confidence in proving doubters wrong.
“I have hope that we will do well. As I said, never write off the Ghana team. The time you have the least faith in the team is exactly when they spring surprises.
“Let us rally behind them, and I think that they can do well,” he stated, as quoted by journalist Gary Al-Smith.
Mr. Nyantakyi’s statement comes on the back of the team’s 2-0 defeat to Mexico in a pre-tournament friendly on Saturday dawn.
The Black Stars will conclude their preparation for the World Cup on June 2, 2026, in another friendly match against Wales.
