Kumasi Asante Kotoko has intensified its search for a substantive coach for the vacant position after the 2025/26 football season.
Angelonline.com.gh understands that management of the Porcupine Worriors has engaged UK-born Ghanaian coach Chris Baffour-Akoto.
The talks, we learned, are in an advanced stage for hiring a UEFA A Licence holder as the Reds look forward to a new technical direction ahead of next season’s football campaign.
According to sources, Kotoko had been keenly monitoring Baffour-Akoto after he guided Tarkwa-based Rospak FC to an impressive second-place finish in the 2024/25 Division One League season.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko completed the Ghana Premier League season without a substantive coach after the sacking of Abdul Karim Zito midseason.
Assistant coach Prince Yaw Owusu has handed over the job as interim coach however he resigned along the way, a decision, he said was made in the best interest of the club.
Following his departure, Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng temporarily took charge of the team and led them to an 8th position in the league.
Chris Baffour-Akoto’s last managerial role was with Luxembourg Premier League side Titus Petange.
The 36-year-old has also previously worked with Crawley Town’s U-21 side and Fort William, and served as a video assistant coach with Ghana’s U-20 national team.
