Six students of Offinso Technical Institute (O.T.I) have been hospitalized after a clash between students and a group of suspected youth from a zongo community on the school’s premises.
The incident, according to reports happened on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Speaking to Angel TV News reporter Bismark Mensah on anonymity, a teacher at the institution indicated that the longstanding feud between the two factions contributed to the clash.
He said this led to injuries of the affected students and the vandalism of school properties.
“The suspected angry zongo boys also destroyed glass windows, doors, and others at both our boys’ and girls’ dormitories as well as our house master’s residence,” he said quoted by the reporter.
According to the teacher’s account, the situation had scared other students to flee the campus at the time of filing this report.
The injured students have been admitted to the St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso Maase receiving treatment.
The teacher noted that school authorities have lodged an official complaint with the police to maintain law and order.
He indicated that the school’s management has also engaged leaders of the Zongo community in efforts to find a lasting peace.
