The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old teacher of Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School for allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old female student, an incident captured in a viral video.
The suspect, identified as Eric Buernortey Apaflo, was arrested on June 8, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m. by a Nyinahini District Police Patrol Team, according to a press release signed by ASP Augustine Antwi of the Public Affairs Unit.
Police say Apaflo, who also serves as caretaker of the school’s hostel, confronted the student, Patience Chibu, and some male students over alleged misconduct at the hostel.

Preliminary investigations indicate a misunderstanding during the confrontation led to the suspect assaulting Chibu.
The incident angered some students, who allegedly pelted stones at Apaflo and invited youth from the town to the school hostel in an attempt to attack him.
The situation was brought under control by the police patrol team.
A Police Medical Report Form has been issued to the victim for medical examination and treatment.
Apaflo is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command urged the public to remain calm and use lawful and peaceful means in resolving grievances and disputes.
