The first batch of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), whose tenure has come to an end, has presented illegal firearms seized during its operations to the Ministry of Interior.

The presentation, done Thursday, June 11, 2026, was imminent as the Secretariat ushered in a new batch.

Receiving the items, Minister for Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, thanked Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and NAIMOS for their good work and for handing over illegal firearms to ensure their successful destruction by the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons in accordance with law.

He assured that every single item, especially the seized excavators, will be published in the national dailies

He urged the good people of Ghana and the communities to support the government and NAIMOS in the fight against illegal mining as it affects the environment and human lives.

He urged the new batch of NAIMOS to carry out their duties professionally and with trust to achieve their objectives.

Colonel S.K. Appiah now takes over as the new Director of Operations for the second batch of NAIMOS, replacing Colonel Dominic Buah.
